Privacy notice
This notice explains what we do with your personal information when you ask us for a valuation, when you sell to us, and when you use this website. We have tried to keep it short and plain.
Last updated: 13 September 2026
01Who we are
WeBuyBullion is a trading name of James Quinn Acquisitions Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 12123379. We are the data controller for the information described in this notice, which means we decide why and how it is used.
If you have a question about anything here, or you want to use any of the rights described below, email us at info@webuybullion.co.uk.
02What we collect, and when
We collect different things at different stages, and deliberately not all at once. In particular, we do not ask for your home address when you first enquire.
- When you ask for a valuation
- Your name, telephone number and email address, a description of the items you are thinking of selling, an approximate weight if you give one, any photographs of your items you choose to add, and how and when you would prefer to be contacted. Adding photographs is optional. In most browsers, the hidden information photos usually carry, such as where they were taken, is removed before they are sent.
- When you speak or write to us
- Notes of what you told us about your items, the figures we quoted you, and any photographs of your items you send us.
- When you send items in
- Your postal address, so the pack can be sent to you and your items returned if you decline.
- When you sell to us
- Photographic identification and proof of address, information about how the items came to be yours, the weights and test readings we record, the offer made and accepted, and the bank account details needed to pay you.
- When you use this website
- Your cookie choice. If you accept advertising cookies, information about the pages you visited and how you reached us. If you do not accept, we do not set them.
03Why we use it, and our lawful basis
Data protection law requires us to have a specific lawful reason for each thing we do with your information. Ours are these.
- Answering your enquiry and valuing your items
- Because you have asked us to, as a step towards a possible contract between us. If you decide not to sell, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
- Buying your items and paying you
- To perform our contract with you.
- Verifying your identity and recording the transaction
- Our legitimate interest in preventing fraud, money laundering and the sale of stolen goods, and in being able to show where the items we buy came from. We check who we buy from and keep records of what we bought and from whom. We cannot pay you without completing these checks, and we cannot agree to skip them.
- Keeping accounting and tax records
- To comply with a legal obligation.
- Advertising cookies
- Only with your consent, which you give or refuse through the cookie banner and can change at any time from the footer of any page.
- Handling complaints, disputes and insurance claims
- Our legitimate interest in resolving problems properly and defending our position where we need to.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have checked that our interest is not outweighed by your rights. You can object, and if you do we will look at it again.
04What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or trade your information to anybody.
- We do not send you marketing because you asked for a valuation. If we ever offer a mailing list it will be a separate choice, with an unsubscribe link on everything we send.
- We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone. A person values your items and a person makes the offer.
- We do not ask for your address before you have a figure you are happy with, and we do not keep a list of people who have valuables at home.
06Where your information is held
Our suppliers store information in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area where they can. Some of them are based in the United States, including the service that delivers our enquiry emails and, if you accept advertising cookies, Meta.
Where information leaves the UK it is protected by one of the safeguards UK law allows, such as the UK's data bridge with the United States or the International Data Transfer Agreement. You can ask us which safeguard applies in any particular case.
07How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a sale
- Twelve months from your last contact with us, then deleted. Long enough to recognise you if you come back, short enough not to be hoarding.
- Identity checks and transaction records
- Five years from the end of our business relationship or from the date of the transaction, whichever is later. We keep them that long so we can answer any later question about fraud, stolen goods or money laundering.
- Accounting and tax records
- Six years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as company and tax law requires.
- Complaints and disputes
- Six years from when the matter is closed, which is the period in which a legal claim could be brought.
- Your cookie choice
- Stored in your own browser until you clear it or change your mind. We ask again if we change what we use cookies for.
08How we protect it
Only the people who need your information to do their jobs can see it. This website uses an encrypted connection, so what you type into our form is protected on its way to us, and our email and records are kept in password-protected accounts.
If something goes wrong that puts your information at risk, we will tell you, and we will report it to the Information Commissioner's Office where the law requires us to.
09Your rights
You have the following rights over the information we hold about you. Using them is free, and we will respond within one month.
- To be told what we hold about you and to be given a copy of it.
- To have inaccurate information corrected.
- To have information deleted, where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
- To ask us to stop using it while a disagreement about it is resolved.
- To receive information you gave us in a portable form, or have it sent to someone else.
- To object to our using it where we rely on legitimate interests.
- To withdraw your consent to advertising cookies at any time, from the footer of any page. Withdrawing it is as easy as giving it, and does not affect anything done beforehand.
To use any of these rights, email info@webuybullion.co.uk. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act, so that we do not hand your information to someone else. One limit is worth stating plainly: we may refuse to delete identity and transaction records before the five years have run, because we need them to protect against fraud, stolen goods and money laundering. If we refuse, we will tell you why. We can delete everything else.
11If you are unhappy
Tell us first at info@webuybullion.co.uk and we will try to put it right. If you are still not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk, by telephone on 0303 123 1113, or by writing to Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. You do not have to come to us first, but it is usually quicker.
12Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information we will update this notice and the date at the top. If the change affects what we use cookies for, we will ask for your choice again.
